I don’t know about you, but I’ve had my fair share of setbacks lately. A couple of months ago, I lost my job and a couple of days ago was the anniversary of my daughter’s passing. Suffice it to say, not the most fabulous timing in the world. Although I believe in the fabric of my being, there is always light in the darkness; I had to take a minute of encouragement. Why? Because even the most optimistic of us can sometimes lose our way in the struggle of what we call life.
What happens when nothing seems to go your way
So what happens when nothing seems to go your way? When you spend countless hours on the phone speaking to recruiters and potential employers only to hear, sorry, we went with someone else. Or better yet, nothing at all. When your bank account is dwindling by the day and worry threatens to rob you of sleep and your peace.
It’s okay to let your frustrations out. Doing so is not to say to take it out on other people. But don’t bottle it up inside. Don’t let it fester and grow and take root. I have learned that bottling frustration and allowing it to fester and take root leads to bitterness. When bitterness takes root, it is far harder to get rid of than if you had dealt with the issue in the first place.
So You Let Your Frustrations Out What Now
So you’ve let your frustrations out – now what? This process is what I like to call spring cleaning. Letting your frustration out is exhausting work. I know. Once you start, you will probably be surprised at how much junk has been piling up and cluttering up your space. But once the de-cluttering is complete and you can take a hot cleansing bath or shower, you will find the strength to begin again.
Now Is The Time To Fill Up With Encouragement
Now that you are in a frustration-free zone, it is time to fill up with encouragement. Fill those empty spaces, those worry-prone spaces, with hope. Fill those spaces with times of remembrance when hope seemed lost, but suddenly you received a breakthrough, when you expected terrible news but received a good report instead. When you got that promotion when you needed some extra cash, if you got through those hardships, you would get through these now. Stand fast and hold still.
I Hope You Never Stop Encouraging Yourself
My final word to you today is that I hope that you never stop encouraging yourself. These words are as much for you are they are for me. We may not always have someone around to tell us the right words that fit our circumstances. Only we, as individuals, know what it would take to lift us out of our despair at any particular moment. We must get to know ourselves deeper and learn to be at peace with who we are. Life is a series of moments. Some are great, others are terrible, but there are all the moments in between that truly make it all worthwhile. I thank you for sharing this moment with me. I call this moment memorable.
Thank you for your words of encouragement.
